I've always been drawn to bodies of water since I was a little girl. Maybe it has something to do with my water sign or perhaps its just where my energies like to dwell. The water element is healing, calming, transcendent, but it is also powerful, focused, and moving. Working with water to manifest your intentions, desires, and dreams will quickly become your favorite way to practice magick.
Working with the element of water does not require you to have a bathtub. You can work with bodies of water like rivers, oceans, lakes, ponds, shower, and even a cup/bowl of water can work all as well. In fact, you can work with rain! When I was a little girl my mother would put out pots and pans to collect rainwater for her spell work and rituals, she also made all her children run out into the rain and play in it, and it was super important in our witchy family to play in the rain and storms. It cleansed us, aligned us, and amplified our inner Magick. We lived at the bottom of a hill and a huge puddle, almost small pond like would form. I loved sitting in it and adding flowers, twigs, leaves to it. I remember pulling out a strand of hair and adding it to the mix, then asking the water to please make my wishes come true. I was a little Bruja before I even understood the true nature of the word.
This bath spell I'm sharing with you is very dear to my soul. My great grandmother created it. I adjusted some aspects of it to fit our modern era. I do want to say this before I share the recipe, it is vital that before you do any Magick, that you cleanse yourself and ground. Its importance lies in the fact that we carry negative energies from others and self. Bringing these energies and or emotions to our magickal workings will backfire on you. "Go in clean and focused before you hocus pocus" is what my mother always says. Below are some easy examples of how to achieve this.
Since we are working with the water element, I thought it would be great to share some cleansing techniques using water. Since the bath ritual is cleansing in itself, these steps will help shed light on the technique used while doing a bathing spell or ritual.
Cleansing: Shower: yes, you read that right, a simple shower, dip in the river and or ocean, standing in the rain, and even a bowl of water can assist in cleansing you, ridding you of negative energies. When working with water, remember where it comes from, connect yourself with the sacredness of it. Water is part of us, its what makes 60% of our bodies; it is Mother Earth, and It is magical.
It’s time for a little visualization. When working with any Magick visualization is key to getting your mind to see the clear picture of what is it you are trying to manifest. In this case, you want to cleanse, Imagine or sense the positive energies flowing through the water. Focus on the healing and calming properties it fills you with. To amplify these properties within you, take deep breaths while allowing the flow of the waters properties to fill you. You create a fire with your breathing, energy speaking. You can already be in the water or outside of it while doing this technique. Feel gratitude for the water that is about to cleanse, heal and nourish all the cells in your body, your aura, and spirit. Ask of it what you wish for it to do. Communicate, connect, and become one.
Grounding: Bare feet on Mother Earth. This one is my favorite way to ground myself. Walk outside and stand on the Earth. If you wish for more extended grounding, walk, sit, lay on the ground. This flesh to Earth connection is EXTREMELY healing, amplifies your inner Magick and brings you back to center, grounding you. Why is grounding so important? Well, when you do spell work, it is vital to have your energies centered and your mind clear, so all the focus goes into the spell and or ritual. Grounding amplifies your power and gives direction to what it is you are trying to rid or manifest while keeping you calm, focused, and anxiety free.
Bath Spell for Manifesting
1 cup of sea salt
Eight drops of cedarwood essential oil
Eight drops of rose essential oil
Two cups of any flowers you wish to add.
1 white candle
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
What to do:
Bring a bath to warm to hot (make sure it is a comfortable temperature for you. Pour in all the ingredients into the tub. You can also place all ingredients in a cloth bag and dump the bag in the bath, so the ingredients don't spill out. If in a shower, tie a cloth bag with ingredients in it by the showerhead, so the water hit the sack.
Light the white candle before you go in the bath. While lighting it make sure to focus on the intention you wish to manifest. Then take a pinch of cinnamon and as you sprinkle it in the bath call out what it is you wish to manifest. Do this three times. Then get in the bath and enjoy!
What is left over you can dump out in the toilet, I like to take at least 1 cup of the water from my bath and dump the on the Earth.
*I suggest doing one intention per bath, one bath a month for manifesting.
